Egypt and Egyptian Cultural Policy--In Need of Change?

This week's Economist has an interesting series of articles about Egypt. Here is the leader:

I've never understood why many in the archaeological community are so high on Zahi Hawaas and his pharonic approach to cultural patrimony issues. Hawass and Egypt's cultural policy are both a product of a system badly in need of positive change.
